The “New Normal” -Post COVID-19

Accept New Normal...
Due to corona crisis our life style and routine has changed so a new
lifestyle is emerging. We are seeing a worldwide change in habits and
lifestyle, adjusting to COVID-19.
As government is giving permission for most commercial activities
and relaxation in lockdown conditions, now it becomes our own responsibility to
remain safe from corona infection.
The life will be significantly different from the one we had before
the outbreak of COVID-19. We have to make a shift toward new habits and lifestyle
and make our mind that this change is essential for our survival and wellbeing.
Thus, we have to include some new normal guild lines in our life:
1. Good
Personal Hygiene: Use
facemask, face shield, hand sanitizer and gloves in public places. Washing
hands frequently, and maintain social distancing. Be more cautious when
touching door handle or using lift.
2. Digital
Payment: Pandemic has forced the adopting of new ways of working. COVID-19
has created a fear of touching coins and paper money. People are now switching
to online banking and digital payment options. Consumers find it more easy,
safe and quick mode of payment, thus, it is becoming the new normal pattern of
payment.
3. Work
from Home: A new work
culture has emerged. Most of the offices are working from home on internet. Employees
who are working from their home are even enjoying this new culture because they
are saving time and energy of travelling and not facing stress of traffic jam.
Companies have quickly adopted technology for video conferencing and other form
of digital collaboration.

Education: Educators around
the world have been thinking about how to educate future generation. The
implications of COVID-19 on education can have long term, especially for the
girls and differently-abled students.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic education may never be the same again. The
course of learning and curriculum will change in future. This is the time to
think, analyze and to innovate new normal in the education system.
Perhaps, education may become more flexible. At present, there is a drastic need to
continue education through alternative pathways, the future of education will
find no room to ignore the utilization of technology.
5. Shopping: We have to find a balance between need to protect ourselves and
the need to maintain daily lives. Consumer becoming more concerned about
health, wellness and safety they may avoid physical shops. The six feet economy
will be the new normal for retail market.
As social distancing becomes the standard, new shopping trends and
buying behaviors would emerge. Contactless shopping and contactless serving
becomes new normal in post COVID-19. Online shopping and e-commerce become
major shopping choices.

Travelling: Travelling is set
to undergo some drastic changes post COVID-19. Safety will be the new normal. A
shift towards domestic tourism is expected in short run. There will also be a
greater likelihood of choosing places which have not been impacted much by the
corona and are away from crowded places. People will start off with traveling
closer to home and for shorter duration.
Sanitation is prime focus in airport, railway stations, and bus
stands. Museum and other visitor attractions started to introducing protocols
along with limiting crowds at a given time. Tour packages are bound to carry
lesser travelers in post COVID-19 outbreak. People are not mentally ready to
use public transportation, thus, a return to “road trip” would be new normal
traveling pattern.
Several countries are likely to impose restrictions and conditions
on travelers from abroad, especially those coming in from countries badly
affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Social Interactions: Following
the outbreak of corona, countries around the world started to implement measures
to avoid the further spread of the disease. People around the world have
limited their social interactions. Virtual meet-ups, virtual house-parties with
friends and relatives is new normal. Video-calling would be the substitute for
house visits to friends and relatives.
People are avoiding shaking hands, hugging and kissing others. Experts
believe that some degree of social touch will disappear permanently, even after
the pandemic ends.
Greeting others with “Namaste”
is new normal gesture of greeting after COVID-19.

Entertainment: The
COVID-19 pandemic is changing our lifestyle and choices of entertainment. With people
confined to their homes, our social lives have moved online and entertainment
has risen notably within the at-home segment of TV, online gaming on mobiles. Digital
media consumption is increasing and the demand of at home digital media is
expected to grow significantly.
Outdoor entertainment has come to a complete dead end, People are
enjoying live movie streaming, and live music concert of singer and artist,
performing from his/her home. Thus, virtual events are becoming new normal amid
this pandemic.
9.
Celebrations: India, being a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-religious
country celebrates holidays, festivals and weddings on grand level. They decorate
their home, do shopping, go to religious place for blessing and celebrate each occasion
with their friends and relatives on mass level.
The world is going through a strange situation where all the parameters
are challenged. Also, the way India is celebrating has changed. People are
adjusting to new normal ways of celebration. During this pandemic people are celebrating
festivals and other especial occasions like birthday and anniversary in a new
normal way. They are celebrating only with close family members in their home
and friend and other relatives are joining them through live video conferencing.
Weddings have been a huge part of Indian culture and celebrated like
a festival. For some societies, it is a thing of social status. By the COVID-19
outbreak wedding will be smaller and more cautious. Number of guest would be
limited.
In the line of COVId-19 restriction, the guest attending the marriage
would be provided with welcome kit containing mask and hand sanitizer. Their body
temperature will be checked at frequent intervals throughout the event. Buffet
dinner will be replaced by sit-in arrangements for dining on long tables
enduring social distancing.
10. Food: Corona virus pandemic has changed everything
about food. People are focusing more on healthy and nutritious food and are
making better eating choices. Majority of people are avoiding street food and preserved
ready to eat food items and non-vegetarian food. Preferring home made fresh, hygienic,
healthier vegetarian food is new normal eating style in post COVID-19.
